How does hair transplantation work?

For hair transplant, hair follicles are taken from the back of the scalp and planted at the balding area. The hair follicles from this donor area are not sensitive to the effect of testosterone hormone, which is the main cause of androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness), hence the hair follicles taken from this area don't fall over a period of time.

What should be the time gap between individual treatment sessions?

Mega session FUE can be undertaken on two consecutive days.

When can I start exercise after Hair Transplant ?

You can start brisk walk at 1 week, running/jogging at 2 weeks, light gym exercises at 3 weeks, heavy gym exercises at 1month, steam /sauna bath at 1 month, swimming at 1 month.

Which shampoo I have to use?

You have to shampoo daily starting at 2 days after Hair Transplant. Use only Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, you can choose any shampoo of your choice.

Can I drink or smoke after hair transplant?

It is adviced to stop smoking 1week before and 1 week after hair transplant. Drinking alcohol is adviced to stop 2 days before and 5 days after hair transplant.

Can I undergo this transplantation while taking some other medical treatment?

It is very essential to discuss all your medical problems and medications with your doctor before you are taken up for this surgery. You may be asked to discontinue or modify few medicines before surgery.

Are there any side-effects of hair transplantation?

1. There can be some swelling over the forehead, across the bridge of the nose and around the eyes on the 3rd day of surgery; but it is generally self limiting and passes off in next 2-3 days.

2. Some patients may develop numbness over the transplanted area, which can persist from few days to few weeks. It is because of the local anesthesia used during hair transplantation. But it is also self-limiting, and does not interfere with the day-to-day activities of the patient.

3. There can be redness of the scalp, which is left limiting in few weeks.

4. Folliculitis or mild infection of scalp at donor or recipient site - present with redness and white/red bumps- easily treated by antibiotic ointment and tablets for 5 days.

Is it possible to take hair from another person?

No, it is not recommended. If we take hair from someone else, there is graft rejection and you need to take expensive and risky immune suppressant drugs for the rest of your life.

When is the first follow up after Hair Transplant?

We will call you back at our clinic after 36-48 hours after completion of hair Transplant.

We will remove the bandage at donor site and we will wash or shampoo the newly implanted hair.

When is first Head wash done after hair Transplant?

Any scars afterwards?

No, FUE is "No stitch" hair transplant technique.

Can females undergo this treatment?

Yes, females can also undergo this treatment.

Are the results of the hair transplantation permanent?

Yes, the results of hair transplant are permanent. The rate of hair fall will be the same as that of hair over back of your scalp.

Are the results completely natural?

The hairline is drawn seeing the facial features and proportions of the face. While implanting, the direction of implanted hair is matched with existing hair. Final outcome is definitely a natural look.

How long will the treatment take?

It takes one or two days to do a complete hair Transplant for levels 5 or level 6 baldness. We do the procedure for 6- 8 hours per day with breaks in between. About 3500-4000 grafts are done in one day.

Will this treatment hurt me or Is it painful ?

The procedure is done under local anesthesia. The patient does not feel any pain and is comfortable listening to music and even sleep. The pain will be felt only for a few minutes sometimes while anaesthetizing the area and we take special measures to minimize even this two minutes pain while applying local anesthesia .

What is the cost of the whole treatment?

The cost is calculated after assessing the number of grafts required to cover the bald area. There is GST tax also applicable.

How many grafts/hair will I need?

It depends upon the area of baldness. We have given a graft calculator to give you rough estimate of the number of grafts you will require for transplantation.

How long will it take to recover completely?

With our FUE technique, one can join the work place on the second day after surgery. You can start shampooing your hair from 3rd day of surgery. The crusts around the newly implanted hair will be cleared by 10th to 14 thday of surgery. You can wear a cap on Day 4.

When will my new hair start to grow naturally?

The transplanted hair fall off temporarily after 1 month of surgery and start growing naturally by 3 months. Hair will gradually increase every month and best result is at 9-12 months.

Will anyone be able to judge about my treatment?

Only during the initial few days of surgery when you have crusting (about 10-14 days) over the transplanted site, which may be noticed. You can wear a cap to hide the crust from 4th day.Otherwise FUE is completely scar less surgery and hair growth you will get will be completely natural.

Do I need to shave my head before treatment?

No, you don't need to shave your head. We recommend you to get your hair trimmed with number 1 machine (which leaves approx. 3 mm hair length).

Who does the Hair Transplant?

The whole procedure is done under supervision of our chief Surgeon, Dr. Vikas Gawri.

Hair Transplant is a team work.

Slitting or making vertical slits at recipient site is done by Dr. Vikas Gawri. Hairline Designing is most important and is alsodone by Dr. Vikas Gawri.

The extraction of grafts from back of head is done by one of our trained doctors with a technician.

The implantation is the last step and is done by our team.

How Mesotherapy works for Hair Regrowth?

Using dermaroller or dermapen, mesogun or insulin syringe, microholes are created over the scalp and stem cell serum or platelet rich plasma is instilled into the deeper layers of scalp, which stimulate the existing hair follicles and promote the new hair growth.

What can I expect from the treatment?

You can expect new hair growth along your existing hairline and improved density, health and texture of hair.

It is equally effective in both men and women.

Is the treatment painful or any side effects?

Mesotherapy is a safe procedure and there are no long-term side effects. However, the procedure should be done under complete aseptic conditions so as to avoid folliculitis.

How long does the treatment take?

Mesotherapy is lunchtime procedure and it takes maximum half an hour for the procedure and you can go back to your work place immediately after the procedure.

Can I wash my hair after the treatment, and after how much time?

You can wash your hair after 24 hours of mesotherapy with your routine shampoo.

Will it also cure my dandruff?

No, for dandruff you need to wash your hair with antidandruff shampoo and take treatment as prescribed by your dermatologist.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

One requires 2- 4 sessions. The therapy can be continued further up to 10 or 12 sessions with good results by combining therapies like anti-hair loss solutions, stem cell serum and platelet rich plasma.

Any Precautions?

The usual precaution is not to touch the scalp and no head-bath for 12 hours after the procedure. You should avoid gym and jogging for that one day, as the sweating causes itching at scalp.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

PRP therapy can be repeated every 1-3 months and usually 2-4 sittings are sufficient, though some patients may require maintenance therapy once a year or more frequently depending upon the severity of hair loss. The visible results in form of new hair growth can be seen after 3-6 months of treatment and further improvement is noticed in the subsequent months.

Can I wash my hair after the treatment, and after how much time?

You can wash your hair after 12 hours of mesotherapy and PRP treatment with your routine shampoo.

How long does the treatment take?

PRP therapy is a lunchtime procedure. It takes about 30 minutes for the procedure and you can go back to your work place immediately after the procedure.

Any side-effects?

PRP therapy is safe and natural because the procedure concentrates the cells from your own blood directly back into the area where it is needed. Hence is not rejected by your immune system and there are absolutely no chance of getting any infection, allergy or hypersensitivity. However one can get mild redness, bruising, itching or headache, which responds well to routine analgesics.
